An inspiring friend told me the legend of the hummingbird, which I found so splendid I wanted to share it with you.

In a forest in a faraway county lived a multitude of happy animals. Abundance and harmony reigned until the day a violent storm hit. Lightning strikes an old, dead tree, which bursts into flames. The fire spread rapidly, destroying the forest. It was terrifying for all the animals, who felt powerless against such a disaster.

Only the little hummingbird was keeping busy, picking up a few drops of water from the river with his beak and returning to drop them over the flames. The armadillo, annoyed by the bird's comings and goings, asked:

  • Hummingbird, you're not crazy? Do you think these few drops will stop the fire?

The hummingbird replied: “I know I can't do it alone, but I'm doing my best.”

Other birds and animals also joined the hummingbird, and together they fetched water as best they could...

Legend doesn't mention whether they managed to extinguish the fire, but one fact is certain: they joined their forces and worked together to find a way to limit the damage!

Great things can be achieved through the sum of all the small actions we take.

Sometimes we think there's no solution to a problem, we're too focused to find another way.

Someone, somewhere, will have listened to their inner voice and made a kind act, no matter how small it is. Often, the best can emerge from this tiny action, that seemingly insignificant at first sight. Let's be that positive person who can inspire a little hope in others!
