Lawrence Peter Berra, known as Yogi Berra, was a baseball player who won the World Series 10 times. His granddaughter produce a documentary about the man she admired, which allowed me to discover who he was.

Born to Italian immigrants in St. Louis, Missouri, Berra survived the Normandy landing at the age of 19. A few years later, he showed up at the New York Yankees' training camp.

He differed from conventional players , goffy, short who loved to entertain. In his first game, he didn't hit one, but two home runs. He told his teammate Joe DiMaggio, who was surprised, "I can hit home runs too!"

Berra always waited for the right ball to send it far, very far. But what distinguished him the most was not only his exemplary kindness, but his memorable quotes. Here are some:

  • "It ain't over till it's over."

  • "It's déjà vu all over again."

  • "Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical."

  • "Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours."

  • "I never said all the things I said."

  • "The future ain't what it used to be."

  • "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

  • "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

  • "You can observe a lot just by watching."

  • "I wish I could answer that because I'm tired of answering that question."

  • "If you can't imitate him, don't copy him!"

  • "You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you."

  • "Never answer an anonymous letter."

  • "If you don't know where you're going, you might wind up someplace else."

  • "We have a good time together even when we're not together."

  • "If the world was perfect, it wouldn't be."

Berra was also known for visiting his own museum while still alive, a rarity. He left an indelible mark on the world of sports, and I hope you'll have the chance to discover more about him in the film "It Ain't Over!
